I want the world to change me the way Mother Nature moves moisture through the water cycle.

We’ve all heard the phrase: life is a journey, not a destination.

I recognize that a lot of my life is in Seattle right now, but…

Take a deep breath and trust.

Last year, I posted my take on what I thought was in and out for 2025.

It’s the first week of January, 2026, and my motivation feels almost non-existent.

Starting in 2015, @nick_kleiner and I have picked a “word of the year” towards the end of each December.

Where the sand shimmers like glitter sticking to my skin.

One thing you should know about me… I will always stop to pet/admire/love on all the dogs (ok, ok, actually all the animals)!

I am staunchly in my 30s. Not brushing up against them. Not “early thirties.”

Maybe I’m connecting dots that only exist in my own mind, but isn’t that the entire point? Isn’t that exactly what "perspective" is?!

Inevitable as the sun rises and the moon falls.

And I'm tired of believing that I am.

To the girl who is scared to take the selfie.... to stop, to turn the camera toward herself, to risk being seen.

I can’t believe it’s over already.

But something changes when I step outside. Somewhere between lacing up my shoes and packing my ski bag, my palette narrows. I reach for neutrals, technical blacks, gear that blends in instead of standing out, and that choice says more than I realized.

As we move into the final quarter of the year and summer slips into fall, I’m taking a pause to take stock of what’s going on in my life, my head, and my heart.

On any clear, sunlit day, you’ll hear it whispered, almost instinctively: “The mountain is out.”
